Learn More AboutPentanet Opticomm

Opticomm is a privately owned fibre network that delivers high‑speed internet using fibre technologies. Unlike the government‑owned nbn, which uses a mix of technologies that include older copper lines, Opticomm estates are predominantly full‑fibre, giving consistent access to higher speed plans. In practical terms, that means Opticomm can feel similar to the fastest nbn plans, but they’re only available in select areas where Opticomm has built its own fibre infrastructure.

Opticomm is a wholesale, shared fibre network, while Pentanet Fixed Wireless is our own private network that we built, own, and operate end‑to‑end. This means we don’t share the infrastructure with other ISPs and can tightly control performance. That ownership and control let us optimise speeds and latency specifically for Perth homes, delivering reliability and gaming performance comparable to the best Opticomm connections.

If your address is already Opticomm‑ready then getting you online typically takes 1-2 business days, though in some cases it can be same day. Where new fibre installation or development work is required, connection can take longer. Our team can check your address and provide you with an expected timeframe from order through to activation so you can plan your move or provider change with confidence.

Pentanet doesn’t provide home phone or VoIP services, so we can’t transfer your existing phone service. If you want to keep an existing number, you’ll need to port it to a dedicated VoIP or phone provider. You should arrange the transfer with your chosen provider before signing up to a new internet provider to avoid losing the number.

Pentanet regularly runs great‑value deals across our nbn, Fixed Wireless, Opticomm, and apartment internet plans.
