Across Australia, the nbn fibre network is being upgraded, with nbn aiming to have millions of Australians connected with nbn full fibre via Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) by the end of 2025. As part of this, nbn is offering eligible addresses the chance to switch from their current Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) technology to the cutting-edge Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) at no cost to you. FTTP is the latest nbn technology, a connection that does away with outdated copper wiring and replaces it with 100% optical fibre cables, providing superior speeds and reliability for your home or business.

Upgrading to a full fibre connection will allow you to access much faster download speeds, reaching 600Mbps typical evening speeds – something Fibre to the Node and Fibre to the Curb simply can’t match! It’s also a more reliable technology, providing higher speeds and significantly reduced fluctuations or dropouts. As the demand for greater speeds rises across Australia, outdated technologies may struggle to meet your connectivity needs. After signing up for one of the eligible 12-month nbn plans, we’ll book your first appointment. Before this, one of their technicians will swing by your premises to assess your installation requirements. You may require one to three additional visits for the technician to complete the installation. A complete installation generally takes four to eight weeks but may take longer, depending on technician availability and the nbn upgrade rollout schedule. Your existing connection stays active throughout this period, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity until your full fibre connection is ready to roll. If you’re a new subscriber or are currently connected via one of our other services and you sign up for the nbn Fibre Connect upgrade program with Pentanet before 30 April 2024, you’ll earn yourself $100 cashback in the form of an e-gift card delivered upon the activation of your new plan. Everything you need to know about Fibre Connect

Subscribers who meet the eligibility criteria can choose to upgrade at no additional cost by selecting a 12-month term plan with Pentanet.

  • For subscribers on FTTN: Opting in for Family or above is required.
  • For subscribers on FTTC: Opting in for Elite or above is required.

The nbn-approved technician will install a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connection alongside your current Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connection.

Following the upgrade, there will be a maximum overlap of 7 days, during which both services can remain active at no extra charge. Make sure to cancel your FTTN or FTTC service within this timeframe to avoid incurring charges for both services.

All premises' needs are slightly different, so installation times will vary. Prior examples show that most subscribers who proceed with the upgrade typically have their new high-speed FTTP connection ready within four to eight weeks.

It's important to note that any internal wiring within the premises is not included in the $0 upgrade and is the subscriber's responsibility.

It’s important to note that subscribers who choose to cancel their plan within the 12-month term will incur a one-time charge of $200 plus any outstanding Early Termination Fees (ETF).
